Holiday engagements

Holiday engagement videography and photography in Connecticut

A holiday engagement session pairs a newly engaged couple with winter light, decorated streets, snow or a warm room, then turns the afternoon into images and record for announcements, save the dates and holiday cards. We guide the time together so it feels like a date, not a photo shoot, and plan around the cold and the early sunset.

A short couple video from your winter session

Many couples want more than stills from a holiday engagement. A short video keeps the laugh as you step off a curb, the way one of you tucks a scarf for the other and the quiet sound of a snowy street. We record ambient sound and, if you like, a few spoken moments about how the proposal happened.

The video is optional and sized to your plans. It can be a brief piece for sharing with family at the holidays, or footage that becomes a moving save the date later on.

Holiday engagement photography

The photographs are the heart of most sessions. We guide you through walking, talking and simple moments close together, then add a few composed frames for the announcement card. Ring shots are included in the plan, with window light or a warm string of lights behind.

Because winter daylight is short, we choose the time of day with you and keep a flexible order so the most important frames happen while the light is best.

  • Walking and talking frames for couples who dislike posing
  • Close detail of the ring against winter textures
  • Portrait-oriented options for cards and announcements
  • Wide frames that show the decorated street or snowy field

Planning video and photo for one afternoon

When both are wanted, we plan them as one session so you are never repeating a moment for two cameras. One operator can move between stills and clips during quiet stretches, and we agree which moments get priority when something happens at once.

If your session includes family, a dog or a second location, we talk through whether an additional operator makes the afternoon calmer. That is confirmed at inquiry.

How we plan and cover your holiday engagement session

We treat the video and the photos as one afternoon with one plan, so you spend your time together instead of repeating moments.

  • Before the session

We ask how you want to use the images: a card, a save the date, an announcement or a video. We learn about your story, favorite places and any must-have shot, such as the ring. One of you is our contact. We handle the plan, timing and comfort checks, and you choose outfits and what to bring.

  • Preparing the two of you

We keep direction light and conversational. If you prefer, we offer a few story prompts, such as how you met or what you remember about the proposal, with no scripts to memorize. For couples who dislike posing, we give simple actions like walking, sharing a drink or warming each other’s hands.

  • Coordinating place and weather

We talk through decorated streets, snow, a cozy indoor spot or warm lights, plus any permission a town, shop or venue requires, which you arrange or we confirm with you. We plan layers, warm breaks, shorter daylight, a start time that catches the best light and an indoor fallback if the weather turns.

  • On the day

We arrive ready to check light, sound and framing, then move with you rather than ahead of you. Video and photo roles are agreed in advance, so a quiet moment gets recorded or photographed, not interrupted. If the schedule shifts because of cold or fading light, we tell you and adjust the order.

  • After the session

We explain what the gallery and any video will contain, the selection and color approach and the formats you need for cards or the web. We agree on review and delivery checkpoints, and note where you plan to use the images. A moving save the date is scoped separately if you want one.

Choosing photos, a video or both

Photography alone is a good fit when the goal is a card, an announcement and a gallery for your wedding website. A video suits couples who want something that moves, or who like the idea of a moving save the date. Many choose both because the same winter setting serves each.

Tell us where you will share the results and we will suggest the simplest mix. A photo-only session is complete on its own.

  • Photos only

A gallery for announcements, cards and your wedding website.

  • Video only

A brief couple video with natural sound and optional story prompts.

  • Both together

One shared session, planned so video and photo support each other.

Share your date, location and coverage needs so we can prepare a scoped quote. Whatever you do not know yet, we will ask about.

  • Your preferred dates or season, and whether daylight or evening lights matter
  • The town or places you have in mind, indoors or outdoors
  • Whether you want photos, a short video or both
  • How you plan to use the results: card, announcement or save the date
  • Anything that affects comfort, such as cold sensitivity, a pet or mobility

Common questions

Can we book a holiday engagement session outside December?

Yes. A winter or festive session can be planned for any time that suits the setting you want, including early winter lights or snowy weather. We are available throughout the year, so tell us your preferred timing and we will plan around daylight and the weather outlook.

We hate posing. Will this feel awkward?

Most couples feel the same way. We give you simple things to do together, like walking, talking or sharing something warm, and keep direction minimal. Posed frames are limited to the few you want for a card, so the rest of the time looks and feels natural.

How do we stay warm enough?

We plan layers, short outdoor stretches and warm breaks, and we can suggest indoor spots between outside stops. Choose coats and scarves that look good in the photos, and bring gloves you can slip off for ring shots. We will keep the pace comfortable.

How do I request a quote?

Tell us your date range, location ideas and whether you want photos, a video or both. We prepare a scoped quote from the date, location and coverage needs, then confirm the plan with you. Other services, such as a moving save the date, can be added to the scope.
