Holiday engagement videography in Connecticut

A holiday engagement video is a short, warm portrait of the two of you at the start of the season: breath in the cold air, hands held while crossing a lit street, a laugh in a cozy café. It can be shared with family at the holidays or become a moving save the date for your wedding guests.

A video that sounds and feels like your winter

We shape the video around real moments rather than a script. Footsteps in snow, a shop door opening and your own voices all build the mood. The pacing stays gentle, with a few longer shots for atmosphere and closer ones for the small gestures you do without thinking.

Length and style are agreed up front, and the video is built to be watched on a phone as easily as on a television.

Story prompts without a script

If you would like to hear yourselves in the video, we offer a few relaxed questions: how you met, what the proposal was like, what you are most looking forward to. You answer while walking or sitting somewhere warm, and we use only what feels like you.

Speaking is entirely optional. Many couples prefer a quiet video with music and natural sound.

  • How the two of you met
  • A small memory from the proposal
  • What you love about the holidays together
  • A message for family and guests

How we plan and cover your holiday engagement video

The video comes together long before the camera comes out, so the session itself feels like time spent as a couple.

  • Shaping the video with you

We ask how you picture the finished piece: a quiet portrait, a story in your own words or a moving save the date. We learn your places, your pace and the audience, then agree on the cuts, the contact person and the plan. You choose what to wear, and we handle sound, framing and timing.

  • Preparing to be on camera

We send story prompts ahead if you want them, with no lines to learn. We suggest ways to move that look natural on video, such as walking slowly, pausing to talk or sharing a warm drink. If speaking feels strange, we can capture only ambient sound and let the images carry the video.

  • Location, permissions and weather

We discuss decorated streets, snowy spaces or a cozy interior, along with any permission a shop, town or property requires, which you arrange or we confirm with you. We plan for wind noise, early sunset, layers, a warm place between takes and an indoor fallback.

  • Recording on the day

We check light, audio and framing, then record alongside you. A steady wide shot anchors the story, and closer angles pick up hands, rings and reactions. Where stills are also planned, we agree who leads in each moment. One operator cannot do both at once, so we add another if the schedule needs it.

  • Editing and delivery

We describe the edit plan, music approach, sound and color choices and the formats you need, such as vertical for messaging or horizontal for a website. We agree on review and delivery checkpoints and note any usage you intend. A moving save the date can be scoped with the video or later.

Moving save the dates and holiday greetings

A moving save the date is a brief piece with your names, the wedding date and a few seconds of the two of you, made for sending by message or email. A holiday greeting version can carry a short note to family, with or without the wedding details.

Format, vertical or horizontal, captions and the length of each cut are options we agree on before the session so the footage we record fits them.

  • Moving save the date

A brief cut with your date, designed for sharing.

  • Holiday greeting

A short message for family and friends.

  • Full couple video

A slightly longer piece that tells more of your story.

Winter shooting: light, sound and cold

Short days and string lights mean mixed color and low light. We check exposure and flicker from LED displays before rolling, and we protect the sound from wind with the right microphone placement. If a clip needs a quieter space, we move indoors for it.

  • Town, venue or places where you would like to be recorded

  • Where you plan to share it and in which format
  • Whether you would like to speak on camera or stay with natural sound

Common questions

Do we have to talk on camera?

No. Story prompts are optional. Many couples choose a video built from natural sound, music and the way they move together. If you do want to speak, we keep the questions relaxed and use only what feels honest, so you never recite anything or repeat yourselves.

What is a moving save the date?

It is a brief video that announces your wedding date, built from footage of your session and sized for sharing by message or email. We can cut it vertical or horizontal, with or without captions. The specific length and style are agreed before the session.

Can the video also be a holiday greeting?

Yes. A short greeting cut can carry a note to family and friends, with or without wedding news. We plan for it during the session so you have the right moments, and confirm the cuts you want before we record.

How do you handle the sound outdoors in winter?

We place microphones to reduce wind, choose quieter corners for speech and keep an independent backup recording when a voice matters. If a moment is too loud for clean speech, we use the ambient sound and music instead, or move indoors briefly for that portion.
