Product photography

Product photography for Connecticut brands and online stores

Clear, consistent product images for your store, catalog, marketplace listings and ads, with white-background and lifestyle options planned around what you sell.

What product photography is for

Shoppers cannot touch what they are buying, so the photos have to do the job. Good product photography shows the real shape, color and scale, answers questions a description cannot, and looks the same from one item to the next so a catalog feels like one brand.

We photograph products for e-commerce stores, wholesale line sheets, marketplace listings, brochures, packaging mockups and advertising. If your goal is to show a product working or being made, that is a video job, and the product and process video page explains it.

White background or lifestyle: choosing the right style

Most brands end up needing both. The decision is about where the picture will be seen and what question it answers.

  • White or clean-background images

Best for catalog pages, marketplaces, line sheets and anywhere buyers compare items side by side. Many marketplaces have their own image requirements, so tell us where you list and we will plan around them.

  • Lifestyle images

Products shown in use or in a setting, such as a mug on a counter or a tool on a workbench. These help with scale, context and mood, and tend to suit homepages, ads and social posts.

  • Detail and scale shots

Close crops of stitching, finish or controls, and shots with a hand or a familiar object for size, so a buyer does not guess.

  • Group and set shots

Collections, bundles and sizes shown together, useful for bundles and gift pages.

Questions before you decide?

Send a product list, where you sell and any image requirements, and we will propose a plan.

Getting products ready for the shoot

Preparation saves more time than any camera setting. Products should arrive clean, complete and in sellable condition, and the count and angles should be decided before the day.

  • Quantity and variations

Send a list of items, colors and sizes. We can usually photograph one hero sample per variation and shoot a swatch or detail for the rest, which keeps the shoot manageable.

  • Condition and cleaning

Dust, fingerprints, wrinkles and loose threads show up under studio light. A lint roller, microfiber cloths and a steamer for fabrics are worth having.

  • Angles per item

Typically a front view, a back or side view, and one or two details. Packaging, labels and what is inside the box can be added when a buyer would want to see them.

  • Samples and spares

Spare units are useful in case of damage or a flawed sample. If a product is one of a kind, tell us so we handle it carefully.

Styling, reflections and difficult materials

Shiny metal, glass, jewelry and liquids reflect their surroundings and show every flaw. Matte fabrics and dark products can lose their shape without careful light. We plan the lighting for the material and may combine more than one exposure for clean results.

  • Glass and bottles: edge lighting and flags to show shape without glare, and agreement about whether contents and labels will be shown.
  • Metal and jewelry: controlled reflections, with clean macro detail where it matters.
  • Dark, black or white products: lighting that keeps edges visible against the background.
  • Food and drink products: shot as packaged goods here, while plated dishes belong on the restaurant and food page.
  • Fabric and apparel: steaming and sizing agreed in advance, and a decision about flat, hanging or worn presentation.

Consistency across a catalog

A catalog looks professional when angle, crop, lighting and background do not change between items. We set a template on the first product and repeat it so new additions can be photographed later and still match. If you plan to add products over time, tell us so we document the setup.

Retouching, file specs and usage

Retouching means cleaning dust, correcting color and removing small flaws, not changing what the product is. We confirm the level of editing and the file formats before the shoot. If a buyer would see a flaw on the real item, the photo should not hide it.

  • File types and sizes

Web-ready files for your store plus larger versions for print or ads when needed. Many stores prefer square or specific aspect ratios, which we plan for.

  • Backgrounds

Pure white, off-white or colored backdrops, plus cut-out versions on request if you intend to use images in layouts.

  • Usage

We confirm where the images will be used: your site, marketplaces, wholesale partners, ads or print. Tell us if retailers or distributors will also use them.

Where product photography fits with other services

A product page often works best when photos and a short video support each other. Photography handles detail and comparison, and video shows motion, scale and use. If your products need people, a brand shoot can add owner and team portraits.

Common questions

Do I need a white background or lifestyle images?

Most online stores use white or clean backgrounds for listings and lifestyle images for the homepage, ads and social. We help you decide the mix based on where you sell.

How many products can we photograph in one session?

It depends on complexity, variations and angles. Send a list and we will suggest a plan and number of final images.

Can you photograph products at our location?

Yes, when the space and light allow. We will confirm where we set up before the shoot.

Do you remove flaws in editing?

We clean dust and small marks and correct color. We do not hide defects a buyer would see on the real product.

Can we use the images on marketplaces?

Yes, if the intended use is named at inquiry. Tell us which marketplaces and we will plan formats accordingly.

Do you also make product videos?

Yes. Motion, demos and process footage are covered by our product and process video page.
