At-home holiday sessions

At-home holiday videography and photography in Connecticut

Some of the best holiday memories are already happening in your living room: the tree glowing in the evening, a batch of cookies cooling, a gift being opened slowly. An at-home holiday session comes to your house and records those ordinary, meaningful hours as video, photographs or both, without anyone leaving the warmth of home.

A short video of your holiday day at home

The video option follows a stretch of your holiday the way it really unfolds. We might begin with the quiet of a morning kitchen, move to the baking or the reading by the tree, and finish with candles being lit. The pace is gentle, built from moments rather than staged scenes.

Ambient household sound is part of the picture: a timer, a laugh from the next room, a favorite song low in the background. If your family wants to record a few spoken holiday messages for relatives far away, we can include them as an optional piece.

Candid photographs in your own rooms

Photography at home leans toward lifestyle and candid style. Instead of lining everyone up, we photograph hands in dough, a child inspecting the tree, a grandparent reading aloud, the family dog claiming the best spot on the rug. A few quiet portraits near a window can be added when your family wants them.

Your own furniture, lamps and decorations become the setting, which is exactly why the pictures feel like your home and not like anyone else’s.

  • Candid traditions and everyday gestures
  • Relaxed portraits by a window or beside the tree
  • Detail frames of decorations, tables and treats
  • Pets included as family when you would like them

Questions before you decide?

Tell us about your home and your traditions. Share your date, location and coverage needs so we can prepare a scoped quote.

How video and photo work together in one house

In a home, the two mediums share the same small space, so we plan them together. Rooms are chosen for light and comfort, and we agree in advance which traditions matter most so each one is recorded in the way that suits it, in motion, in stills, or in both.

A single operator cannot capture two things happening in different rooms at once. If your plans include a simultaneous gathering, such as baking upstairs while others decorate downstairs, we can talk about adding another operator when the schedule calls for it.

How we plan and cover your at-home holiday session

We plan video and photography together around your household’s rhythm so the day stays relaxed.

  • Before the session

We start with a conversation about what your family does at the holidays, who will be home, and which traditions you most want kept. We agree on the window, the rooms we will use, and whether you want video, photographs or both. We ask for one household contact, and we prepare a scoped quote from your date, location and coverage needs.

  • Preparing your family

No one needs to rehearse or dress up unless they want to. We suggest simple comfort-first outfits, explain that we will move around quietly, and ask children, grandparents and anyone camera-shy to carry on as usual. If you want spoken messages, we share a few loose prompts, never a memorized script.

  • Coordinating the house

We ask about parking, entry, shoes, pets and any rooms that are off limits. We look at how daylight enters each room and which lamps and warm bulbs you already have. We confirm what to tidy, which is usually very little, and whether any flash is welcome in your space.

  • On the day

We arrive at the agreed time, check light and sound in the main rooms, and then let the day unfold. We direct only when it helps, such as turning toward a window, and we keep out of the way of cooking and gift opening. If two traditions overlap, we discuss which to prioritize or whether another operator is needed.

  • After the session

We explain how the video will be shaped, how photographs will be selected, and how everything will be delivered. We set review and delivery checkpoints in the scope, and we confirm any use beyond the family, such as sharing with relatives, at inquiry.

Choosing video, photographs or both

Choose the video if you want the sounds and rhythm of the day, and the photographs if you want pictures for the wall, a card or a family album. Many households want both: a short video to replay each December, and a gallery to print.

Neither depends on the other. You can ask for only one, and we will build the scope around it.

  • Video only

Motion, ambient sound and optional spoken messages.

  • Photos only

Candid and quiet portraits delivered as a gallery.

  • Both

A planned day that gives you moving and still keepsakes.

Planning your session at home

Details about rooms, lighting, shoes, pets and tidying are covered on the dedicated at-home holiday session videography page and the photography page. Families who prefer a venue or a different setting can also look at the other holiday sessions we plan. Sessions are available throughout the year, not only in December.

What to send when you ask about your at-home holiday session

Share your date, location and coverage needs so we can prepare a scoped quote. Whatever you do not know yet, we will ask about.

  • Your preferred date or holiday and your town
  • Rooms you would like us to use and those to avoid
  • Traditions you hope to include, such as baking or candles
  • Who will be home, including children, grandparents and pets
  • Whether you want video, photographs or both
  • Any household preferences about shoes, parking or entry

Common questions

Do we need to clean the whole house first?

No. We ask you to tidy only what matters in the rooms we will be in, such as a cluttered counter or a stack of mail. Lived-in details like a blanket on the sofa or a toy near the tree often make the pictures feel more like your family.

Can we include our dog or cat?

Yes, pets are welcome and often make the best candid frames. Tell us about their habits, whether they are shy with visitors, and any rules about doors or gates, and we will plan around them so everyone stays comfortable.

What if our home is small or dim?

Small spaces work well because everything is close and warm. We look at window light, lamps and warm bulbs you already own, and choose one or two rooms rather than the whole house. We confirm lighting choices with you before the day.

Is a session only available in December?

Holiday sessions are popular in the winter season, but we plan at-home sessions throughout the year for any family celebration or tradition. Share your date and location and we will prepare a scoped quote based on your coverage needs.
